Rajasthan's Food Safety Department destroyed approximately 1.5 lakh kilograms of expired Amul non-dairy products in Jaipur after discovering they were being prepared for sale by altering expiry dates. The operation, which spanned four days, involved loading the material into 27 trucks and transporting it to a garbage dump for disposal. The action followed a complaint filed via the 181 helpline alleging that Messrs Athlete Distributor was planning to sell expired goods in Jaipur's Kho Nagorian area. A team from the Chief Medical Officer, Jaipur II, inspected the site and found a large warehouse stocked with expired food items, including Amul products like noodles, ketchup, mayonnaise, energy drinks, and other non-dairy items. These products were supplied by Messrs Kaira District Co-operative Milk Producers Union, Gujarat, and distributed by Messrs Advansys India Private Limited. Officials reported that 12,000 cartons had expired dates, while 3,000 were found with erased expiry dates. The team also discovered chemicals like thinner and acetone, allegedly used to remove dates, and materials for printing new ones. A businessman associated with Messrs Athlete Distributor admitted to using YouTube tutorials to alter dates, then repackaging the items into 4,500 new Amul-branded cartons for resale. Food Safety Commissioner Dr T Shubhamangala noted that the warehouse's food license had expired, and neighbors reported that the site remained sealed until evening after 10-12 employees entered. The Food Safety Department has issued notices to both Kaira and Advansys under the Food Safety and Standards Act (FSSA), 2006, citing violations such as storing expired goods, illegal sales, and failure to comply with guidelines.#rajasthan_food_safety_department #kaira_district_cooperative_milk_producers_union #messrs_athlete_distributor #advansys_india_private_limited #jaipur_kho_nagorian_area

Expiry Dates Erased, Products Repacked: Jaipur Authorities Destroy 1.5 Lakh Kg of Expired Amul Stock Rajasthan’s Food Safety Department uncovered a scheme involving expired Amul-branded food products in Jaipur, leading to the destruction of 1.5 lakh kilograms of stock. The operation, which spanned four days, involved 27 trucks transporting the goods to a landfill. Authorities allege the products were part of a larger plan to erase expiry dates and repack them for resale. During a raid on a warehouse in Jaipur’s Kho Nagoriyan area, officials found thousands of cartons of non-dairy Amul products, including noodles, ketchup, mayonnaise, and energy drinks. These items were produced by the Kaira District Co-operative Milk Producers' Union in Gujarat and distributed through Advansys India Pvt. Ltd. Investigators discovered that approximately 12,000 cartons were already past their expiry dates, while around 3,000 had their dates chemically erased using substances like thinner and acetone. The warehouse, operated by M/s Athlete Distributor under Gagan Ahuja, was sealed after the operation. Ahuja’s food licence had expired, raising suspicions that the operator intended to reprint expiry dates and repack the items into nearly 4,500 new Amul-labelled cartons for sale. Officials confirmed the seized stock was “unfit for consumption” and posed health risks. The investigation was triggered by a complaint filed on the state government’s 181 public grievance helpline. Neighbors had also reported unusual activity, including workers entering early and the gate remaining closed for the entire day. Machinery, chemicals, and packaging materials found at the site were seized, and the warehouse was sealed as part of the crackdown.#amul #rajasthan_food_safety_department #kaira_district_cooperative_milk_producers_union #advansys_india_pvt_ltd #gagan_ahuja
