According to reports, the university’s administration had failed to address repeated requests for functioning water coolers and improved drinking water access. Students claimed that damaged coolers remained unrepaired, and new arrangements were not made despite the extreme heat. This lack of response fueled frustration, leading the group to take matters into their own hands. Youth leader Shubham Rewad, who intervened after witnessing students struggling to find water inside the Central Library, amplified the controversy.
