Prince Of Najafgarh: Chucking Delhi Police Constables' Exam To Live IPL Dream Prince Yadav, a 22-year-old fast bowler from Najafgarh, has defied expectations by transitioning from a career in law enforcement to becoming a rising star in the Indian Premier League (IPL). His journey began with a bold decision to abandon the Delhi Police Constables' exam, a path his father, Railway Protection Force ASI Ram Niwas Yadav, initially resisted. The father, who had pushed his son to prepare for the exam, eventually relented after Prince’s unwavering commitment to cricket. This gamble paid off as Prince now plays for Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) after being acquired at the 2025 IPL auction for INR 30 lakh. Prince’s cricketing talent was evident early, though his father initially feared for his future. At 18, Prince had not bowled a single over with the leather ball, relying instead on tennis-ball tournaments to hone his skills. His father, Ram Niwas, forced him to take the Delhi Police exam, but Prince’s focus remained on cricket. “His passion was clear,” Ram Niwas recalled. “I had to trust him, even though an ASI’s salary wouldn’t cover his dreams.” Despite the financial strain, Prince’s determination led him to excel in local cricket, eventually catching the eye of coaches and selectors. Prince’s rise accelerated with the support of coaches Amit Vashistha and Pradeep Sangwan. Vashistha, who runs the Sporting Cricket Club of Najafgarh, first noticed Prince during a tennis-ball tournament. He encouraged the teenager to join his academy, where he refined his technique. Sangwan, a former India U-19 World Cup-winning pacer, further bolstered Prince’s fitness, including grueling training sessions like running with a sandbag through paddy fields.#delhi_police #lucknow_super_giants #vijay_hazare_trophy #prince_yadav #ram_niwas_yadav
