Grimmond replaces injured Henry in West Indies squad for Ireland ODIs The West Indies cricket team has made a notable adjustment to its squad for the upcoming three-match One-Day International (ODI) series against Ireland, as allrounder Chinelle Henry is ruled out due to injury. Realeanna Grimmond, a 21-year-old batter under a starter (development) contract with the Cricket West Indies (CWI), has been selected to replace Henry in the lineup. This marks the only change from the squad that reached the semi-finals of the recent Women’s T20 World Cup. Henry, who served as vice-captain during the tournament, was a standout performer, scoring 92 runs at a strike rate of 131.42—the highest among all West Indies batters. Her contributions extended beyond batting, as she also claimed three wickets at an economy rate of 8.87. Her absence leaves a gap in both batting and bowling, but Grimmond’s inclusion aims to address this with her own capabilities. Grimmond, who has already played five ODIs, including the West Indies’ most recent match against Australia in Basseterre earlier this year, brings valuable experience to the team. She has accumulated 93 runs at an average of 18.60 across her ODI appearances. Notably, she scored a half-century on her debut against England in June 2025, showcasing her potential as a key player. Her inclusion in the squad highlights her growing role within the team’s strategy. The series against Ireland is the third of the West Indies’ campaign in the 2025–29 Women’s Championship, a competition that determines qualification for the 2029 ODI World Cup. The top eight teams in the 11-team tournament will secure direct entry to the global event.#cricket_west_indies #women_s_t20_world_cup #chinelle_henry #realeanna_grimmond #ireland_odis
