Minor’s Rape Case Uncovered After School Alert Triggers Investigation Nagpur: A routine absentee alert sent by a school to the parents of a 13-year-old girl exposed a case of alleged sexual assault by a 28-year-old man who had groomed her online. The accused, identified as Karan Keshi, was arrested by Sadar police on Sunday after the girl’s unexplained absences from school prompted her family to investigate. The incident began in November last year when Keshi, a tile-fitter by profession, initiated contact with the Class 8 student on a social media platform. Police described his approach as a form of “online grooming,” where sexual offenders build trust with minors over time. The accused allegedly used casual conversations to gradually shift toward flirtation and manipulation, pressuring the girl to meet him repeatedly. The girl’s absences from school first occurred in March, with her skipping classes mid-month and again the following week. The school’s automated alert system notified her parents about the unexplained absences, prompting them to question the child at home. After persistent questioning, the girl disclosed that she had met Keshi twice. On both occasions, she left home in her school uniform, changed into different clothes at school, and met him. Keshi then took her to a hotel in Gittikhadan, where he allegedly raped her. Shocked by the revelation, the girl’s parents rushed to the Sadar police station and filed a formal complaint. Authorities arrested Keshi within hours, and during interrogation, he confessed to the crime. Police seized his phone to investigate potential evidence of other victims or similar incidents. The accused has been booked under relevant sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses (POCSO) Act and remains in custody.#poctso_act #karan_keshi #sadarpolice #gittikhadan #school_alert_system
