Govt Expands Anti-Drug War With District Rehab Centres, Crackdown On Drug Networks Maharashtra’s government has announced a comprehensive expansion of its anti-drug campaign, including the establishment of de-addiction and rehabilitation centres in every district, as well as intensified operations against narcotics syndicates. Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis outlined these measures during a speech in the Legislative Assembly on Tuesday, emphasizing a "whole-of-government approach" aligned with the central government’s anti-drug initiatives. The strategy involves coordination across nearly 15 state departments to address enforcement, prevention, awareness, and rehabilitation efforts. Fadnavis highlighted that the campaign would focus on dismantling drug supply chains while supporting recovery for those affected by addiction. He stated that investigations into drug networks would no longer stop at seizure stages, with police directed to trace forward and backward linkages to identify suppliers, financiers, manufacturers, and distribution channels. Recent operations cited by the CM included the Agripada case, which led to the seizure of drugs worth approximately 50 crore from a warehouse in Gujarat, and another recovery of 74 crore linked to a peddler arrested near a Pune hostel. Hydroponic ganja worth 44 crore was also recovered from multiple locations. The government has also arrested alleged drug kingpin Salim Dola and around a dozen associates.
