Pay Rs 2,000 To Live Like A Prisoner At Hyderabad Jail Chanchalguda Central Prison in Hyderabad launched the "Feel the Jail" initiative on Tuesday, offering citizens a unique opportunity to experience prison life for either 12 or 24 hours. The program, designed to raise awareness about law, discipline, and prison reform, allows participants to stay in specially designed prison cells, eat jail food, and follow inmate-style routines to gain insight into the realities of incarceration and the value of freedom. The 24-hour experience costs Rs 2,000, while the 12-hour option is priced at Rs 1,000. A key component of the initiative is the newly opened Jail Museum, which showcases the evolution of prisons in Telangana, from the Nizam era to modern correctional practices. The museum features historical artifacts such as old shackles and prison cells, along with stories of notable prisoners like Bhakta Ramadasu and Dasarathi Krishnamacharyulu. It also highlights prison industries, rehabilitation programs, and the contributions of prisoners to major projects such as the construction of the Nagarjuna Sagar Dam. The museum draws inspiration from the earlier "one-day jail experience" at the Sangareddy Heritage Prison Museum, which had garnered significant public attention. The initiative was inaugurated by Telangana Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla alongside the new Jail Museum at the State Institute of Correctional Administration (SICA) in Chanchalguda. Officials emphasized that the program aims to foster awareness about the prison system, particularly among the youth, and to promote a progressive approach to incarceration.#chanchalguda_central_prison #telangana_governor #sangareddy_heritage_prison_museum #state_institute_of_correctional_administration #soumya_mishra
