Maharashtra Government Considers Lifting LOC Against UK Doctor in Anti-BJP Case The Maharashtra government has informed the Bombay High Court that it has no objection to lifting the Look Out Circular (LOC) against UK-based doctor and YouTuber Sangram Patil if the investigation reports in his case are not made available within three weeks. The state’s stance comes as Patil, who was detained upon his arrival in Mumbai in January, continues to challenge the legal action against him. The court has scheduled further hearings to address the matter, with the next session set for May 5. Patil, a consultant at the National Health Service in the UK, was booked for allegedly posting objectionable content against a BJP leader, with the case linked to Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He was detained on January 10 when he arrived at Mumbai’s international airport. The Maharashtra government stated that lifting the LOC would be conditional on Patil and his parents providing an undertaking to return to India and appear before the Investigation Officer (IO) as required. The state also mentioned that Patil would receive a 15-day advance notice if he needed to appear for interrogation. Patil’s legal team, including senior advocate Rajiv Shakdher, argued that the prolonged detention has severely impacted his personal and professional life. They highlighted that Patil, who holds a tourist visa, is unemployed in the UK and unable to work due to his detention. His wife and child remain in England, and he has patients to attend to, making his current situation akin to an “open-air jail.” Shakdher emphasized that the police have not sought custodial interrogation, as they lack sufficient material to proceed.#maharashtra_government #bombay_high_court #narendra_moddi #sangram_patil #rajiv_shakdher
