Fake Degrees and Certificate Racket Busted in Chandrapur A criminal network involved in manufacturing and selling counterfeit academic documents, including fake degrees, marksheets, diplomas, and migration certificates, was dismantled in Chandrapur. The operation allegedly targeted individuals seeking to secure employment, college admissions, or promotions by using forged credentials from prestigious universities. The racket was uncovered after suspicious documents were discovered in a cloth bag belonging to one of the suspects, leading to the arrest of a key figure and an ongoing investigation into the broader network. The case was registered by Durgapur police on Monday night against Parimal Baburao Gaurkar (32) and Vaibhav Bholaram Sonule (32), both residents of Tukum locality. Sonule was arrested and remanded in police custody until August 28, while Gaurkar remains at large. The investigation revealed that Gaurkar had asked his neighbor, Vaibhav Mashirkar, to store a bag of documents at his residence in January. When Gaurkar failed to collect the documents for an extended period, Mashirkar opened the bag and reported the findings to authorities. The seized documents purportedly bore forged seals and signatures of several reputed universities, including Sant Gadge Baba Amravati University, Solapur University, Shridhar University, Pilani University, Gondwana University, and Chhatrapati Shahuji Maharaj University, Kanpur. These materials were allegedly sold to clients for between ₹5 lakh and ₹10 lakh.
