Manchester United Appoints Eva Olid as New Women’s Manager Manchester United have confirmed Eva Olid as their new women’s manager on a two-year deal with an option for a further 12 months. The former Hearts boss replaces Marc Skinner, who left the role by mutual consent on Monday - a month before the start of the Women’s Super League (WSL) season. Olid, 40, opted to leave Edinburgh in the summer when her contract expired, having led Hearts to their first Scottish Women’s Premier League (SWPL) title in the 2025-26 season. She also took Hearts to their first domestic final, though they lost to Rangers in the 2024 Scottish Cup. Olid’s tenure at Hearts, which spanned from 2021 to 2026, saw the club rise from the bottom of the table to the top of the league. During her five-year stint, she transformed Hearts into a dominant force, culminating in their first SWPL title in the 2025-26 season. The club also reached its first domestic final, though they lost to Rangers in the 2024 Scottish Cup. Olid’s approach emphasized a full-frontal attacking style, often employing a 3-4-3 formation, with her goalkeeper playing a key role as a fourth defender. Hearts were top scorers in the SWPL last season with 85 goals - only Rangers with 80 were within 20 of them - so United’s frontline of Ella Toone, Lea Schuller and Elisabeth Terland can hope for plenty of chances next season. She also developed a plan B. Having failed to beat Glasgow City across her first four seasons, Olid purposefully went defensive in April’s meeting and secured a 1-0 win to go top of the table. That was the game where she announced her intention to leave, saying she could not have gone without tasting victory against them at least once.#manchester_united #hearts #women_s_super_league #eva_olid #scottish_women_s_premier_league
