Shortly after the op-ed was published, Miller, who was running for a House seat in Ohio’s 16th Congressional District, sued Grisham for defamation, denying any allegations of abuse. The case took a significant turn when both parties reached a settlement. According to court documents obtained by the Ohio Capital Journal, the agreement included promises from Miller to Grisham that he would not make disparaging remarks about her. However, Grisham’s lawyer, Marc Dann, claimed these promises were broken. “The settlement included certain promises that Congressman Miller made to our client Stephanie Grisham, and those promises were broken,” Dann stated in a comment to the Journal. Miller, who now represents Ohio’s 7th Congressional District, has faced renewed scrutiny over the allegations.
