Panaji Municipal Corporation Election Results 2026: BJP Secures Majority in City Council Vote counting for the Panaji Municipal Corporation elections concluded on March 13, 2026, with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) emerging as the dominant force. The election, held on March 11, saw a voter turnout of 69.07%, with Ward 23 recording the highest participation at 81.94%. A total of 69 candidates contested across 30 wards, distributed among 48 polling booths. Reservations were in place for women (10 wards), Other Backward Classes (OBCs, 8 wards), and Scheduled Tribes (1 ward). The BJP's "Babush" Monserrate panel secured at least 14 victories, significantly outperforming the opposition led by Utpal Parrikar's Ami Panjekar. Early results highlighted the party's strong performance, with candidates winning key wards against prominent rivals. Shayani Chopdekar of the BJP defeated Ami Panjekar's Suraj Rohidas Naik in Ward 15, while Kishore Sastry clinched Ward 5 against Sudin Kamat. Krishna Ramdas Shirodkar secured Ward 18 over Ashish Ranganath Nagvekar, and Asmita Kerkar won Ward 16 against Pranjal Prajit Naik. Other notable BJP wins included Varsha Hari Shetye in Ward 12, Prasad Amonkar in Ward 10, and Yutika Zambaulikar in Ward 1.
