Parents Left To Endure Heat, Wait Without Water Outside NEET ReTest Centres Parents accompanying candidates for the NEET-UG 2026 re-test in Nagpur faced severe hardships on Sunday as they endured scorching heat and a lack of basic amenities while waiting outside examination centres. Complaints emerged about prolonged waits, no access to drinking water, shaded areas, or seating, despite National Testing Agency (NTA) advisories mandating proper arrangements for both candidates and their guardians. At centres such as DNC, Shivaji Science College, Kendriya Vidyalaya, Ajni, and SFS College, parents sought refuge under trees, at bus stops, or on footpaths to escape the intense heat. At Kendriya Vidyalaya, Ajni, guardians reported the absence of designated waiting areas, seating, or water provisions. A parent from Chandrapur claimed no facilities were provided for accompanying family members, while Yogesh Godekar, who travelled from Umred, expressed frustration over the lack of shelter. “There is no place to wait. We have to stand on the road and footpath for hours,” he said. Another guardian noted that arrangements during the May NEET exam had been better, but this time, nothing was provided. Parents from Kamptee revealed they spent nearly ₹4,000 on travel and related expenses to bring their children to the centres, only to face these challenges. Ramesh Jame highlighted that families from rural areas began their journeys at 7am or 8am to reach exam centres by 11am, yet no basic shelters or seating were available. Candidates like Manthan Kambhle and Aditya Makde, who travelled two hours from Mauda, remained focused on their goals despite the inconvenience.
