Rashmika Mandanna and Vijay Deverakonda's wedding placed tradition at its heart In an era where Indian weddings have grown synonymous with extravagance, Rashmika Mandanna and Vijay Deverakonda’s wedding was a refreshing reminder that the essence of a wedding still lies in tradition. For all the crystal chandeliers and sparkling fireworks, nothing quite compares to centuries-old customs that are carried and worn with pride. Between the layers of gold temple jewellery and the couple's traditional ensemble, the wedding felt like a page straight out of Indian mythology. Set at ITC Mementos, Udaipur, the morning honoured Deverakonda’s Telugu traditions, while the evening paid homage to Mandanna’s Kodava roots from Coorg. Kodava weddings are known for being intimate and community-led, placing ancestry, nature and family blessings at the heart of the ceremony. The bride traditionally wears a rich silk sari, draped with pleats at the back instead of the front, a nod to strength and readiness that traces back to the community’s martial past. For the ceremony, Mandanna opted for a rust silk sari with a bold-red border, custom-made by Anamika Khanna. Temple motifs like carved sanctums and sacred geometry were embroidered across the drape in antique gold. Deverakonda arrived in full regalia. Wearing an ivory dhoti silhouette paired with a vermillion angavastram, his ensemble drew from Hyderabad’s textile legacy, with forest and temple-inspired motifs symbolising power, lineage and sacred architecture. Styled by Ami Patel, he leaned unapologetically into tradition, especially when it came to jewellery.
