Delhi Weather: Light Rain and Relief from Heat in Delhi-NCR Delhi and the National Capital Region (NCR) experienced a shift in weather on Friday, with clouds covering the sky and light rain occurring in several areas. This brought relief from the intense heat and humidity that had persisted earlier in the week. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), partial cloud cover is expected on July 17, with light rain and occasional thunderstorms, leading to a cooler atmosphere. The region saw light rain and drizzle in areas such as Noida Sector 62, Greater Noida, and near the Skon Temple on Friday morning. These showers provided temporary relief from the sweltering temperatures. The IMD noted that while the monsoon is active, heavy rainfall is not expected in the near future. Meteorological experts explained that moist southwest monsoon winds from the Arabian Sea are moving toward Delhi, forming clouds but failing to bring substantial rainfall. The lack of sufficient moisture in the region is preventing the formation of strong weather systems. SkyMeteo Weather’s chief Mahesh Palavat stated that similar conditions are likely to persist for the next three days. IMD forecasts indicate that light to moderate rain could occur in parts of Delhi on July 19, while a more substantial rainfall event is anticipated between July 20 and 22. Temperature readings from the Safdarjung Meteorological Centre showed a high of 38-39°C and a low of 28-29°C on July 16. The previous day, July 15, recorded a maximum temperature of 39.2°C, which was the highest in July in the past two years. This surpassed the previous record of 39.3°C set on July 30, 2024.
