Rs86 Crore of Rs108 Crore Sanctioned for Youth Welfare and Sports Schemes Utilized The Maharashtra Legislative Council was informed on Monday that over Rs86 crore of the Rs108 crore sanctioned for youth welfare, sports, and gymnasium development schemes in several districts has been spent. The districts included Gondia, Yavatmal, Akola, Chandrapur, Nagpur, Washim, and others. MLC Dr Parinay Fuke raised concerns about the status of sports complexes in these areas, questioning whether delays in project completion were due to poor planning and coordination gaps between the sports department, district sports officers, and local bodies. Smt Sunetra Pawar, speaking on behalf of the Deputy Chief Minister, refuted these claims. She stated that the districts had received Rs108.51 crore through District Planning Committees for five specific schemes: youth welfare, gymnasium development, innovative schemes, sports ground development, and social service camps. According to the reply, Rs86.44 crore had been utilized from the allocated funds. However, no district-wise breakdown of expenditures was provided. The response also denied allegations of wasted funds due to incomplete projects and dismissed claims that coordination failures among agencies responsible for sports infrastructure had caused delays. Additionally, no official list of commissioned sports facilities was submitted to the council. The reply emphasized that the funds had been effectively utilized to advance the schemes, though specific details on project progress or completion rates were not disclosed. The discussion highlights ongoing scrutiny of public spending and administrative efficiency in implementing developmental projects.#maharashtra_legislative_council #dr_parinay_fuke #smt_sunetra_pawar #district_planning_committees #youth_welfare
