Nagpur Launches Noise Complaint Portal to Cut Response Time to 30 Minutes Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) and Nagpur police have introduced a new digital platform called ‘Noise Free Nagpur’ to streamline the process of addressing noise pollution complaints. The initiative, launched on Wednesday, significantly reduces the time taken to respond to grievances from three hours to just 30 minutes. Developed by NMC IT officer Swapnil Lokhande, the portal was implemented in collaboration with the civic body and police following directives from the Nagpur bench of the Bombay High Court. The system aims to ensure swift action by automatically routing complaints to the appropriate authorities. Under the new mechanism, citizens can report various types of noise disturbances, including those caused by DJs, loudspeakers, public events, unnecessary honking, modified silencers, construction activities, machinery, generators, and firecrackers. The portal also allows users to track the status of their complaints in real time. The process begins with a complaint being automatically forwarded to the police inspector (PI) of the relevant station. If no action is taken within 30 minutes, the case is escalated to the assistant commissioner of police (ACP), and subsequently to the deputy commissioner of police (DCP). The system includes zone-wise routing to ensure complaints are directed to the correct area, with further escalation options available for senior officials if needed. This structured approach is designed to address noise violations efficiently, particularly during the upcoming Ganeshotsav festival, which marks the start of the festive season. The portal also allows citizens to report violations during the night-time silence period, which is enforced between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m.#nagpur #nagpur_police #nagpur_municipal_corporation #swapnil_lokhande #ganeshotsav_festival
