Ram Gopal Varma Drops Sarkar 4 Amid Dhurandhar Success Focus On Syndicate Next Project Ram Gopal Varma has postponed the production of Sarkar 4, originally slated to begin filming with Amitabh Bachchan and Abhishek Bachchan in April, citing the commercial success of Dhurandhar: The Revenge as a key factor. The filmmaker has shifted his focus to a new project, Syndicate, which he described as his most sincere work since Satya. In an interview with Bollywood Hungama, Varma explained that the impact of Dhurandhar has influenced his creative direction. He reflected on his earlier gangster films, such as Satya, Company, and Sarkar, which were inspired by The Godfather. However, he acknowledged that the success of Dhurandhar has prompted a reevaluation of his approach. “Earlier, all my gangster films were inspired by The Godfather, be it Satya, Company, or Sarkar. Or else I was making films just for the heck of it. Why did I make Daud or Phoonk, or all those other films? Because I just wanted to keep making movies. I was cocky and arrogant enough to think I just needed to go on set and the film would come together,” he said. Varma credited Aditya Dhar’s honesty in storytelling as a turning point. He praised Dhurandhar for being driven by a narrative rather than a desire to prove a point. “I want to reset my clock. I feel about Aditya Dhar the way I felt about Steven Spielberg in my college days. Yes, I am in awe of Aditya Dhar. What’s wrong with that? Even at 68, I can be a fan, can’t I?” he added. The filmmaker expressed his intention to channel this renewed energy into Syndicate, emphasizing its sincerity and depth. “So yes, I am no longer making Sarkar 4. I am making Syndicate. No, I am not trying to make another Dhurandhar. No one can do that, not even Aditya.#dhurandhar #ram_gopal_varma #amitabh_bachchan #abhishek_bachchan #syndicate
