Tamil Nadu Announces Special Bus Services for Public Holidays The Tamil Nadu government has announced the operation of special buses to accommodate increased passenger traffic during public holidays, including May Day and the end of the week. According to the Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation (TNSTC), additional services will be introduced to manage the surge in travel demand from 30 April 2026 to 3 May 2026. Officials emphasized that these measures aim to prevent overcrowding and ensure smooth transportation for travelers across the state. The special bus schedule includes 475 buses operating on Thursday, 315 buses on Friday and Saturday, and 615 buses on Sunday. These services will cover major routes such as Chennai to Tiruchi, Kumbakonam, Madurai, Tirunelveli, Nagarkoil, Kanyakumari, Tuticorin, Coimbatore, Salem, Erode, and Tiruppur. Additionally, buses will connect Chennai to Tiruvannamalai, Nagapattinam, Vellur, Ooty, and Bengaluru, with varying numbers of vehicles depending on the day. For instance, 85 buses will run from Chennai’s Koyambedu to Tiruvannamalai, Nagapattinam, Vellur, and Ooty on Thursday, while 75 buses will operate on Friday and Saturday for these routes. Other routes, such as from Madurai to Bengaluru, Tiruppur, Erode, and Coimbatore, will see 200 special buses. The government also plans to deploy 14 buses daily from Madurai to cover multiple destinations. Passengers are encouraged to book tickets in advance through the TNSTC website (www.tnstc.in) and mobile app to avoid last-minute complications. Officials have also stationed staff at all bus terminals to monitor the special services and assist travelers. The initiative highlights the state’s efforts to manage seasonal travel demands while ensuring safety and efficiency for commuters.#chennai #tamil_nadu #madurai #tamil_nadu_state_transport_corporation #tiruchirapalli
