According to K Munirathnam Reddy, the ASI Director (Epigraphy), the museum will function as a leading research and educational institution focused on preserving and exhibiting India’s extensive inscriptional heritage across thousands of years. It will provide scholars, students, and visitors with insights into early writing systems that shaped civilization, including Brahmi and Kharosthi, alongside regional scripts such as Sharada, Tankri, Gupta, and Shankhalipi. The museum will feature Ashokan-era Brahmi inscriptions in Prakrit, recognized as some of the earliest deciphered epigraphic records in India, as well as Kharosthi inscriptions from the Gandhara region, which offer critical information about early socio-cultural exchanges. Transitional scripts and derivatives of the Gupta script will also be displayed, illustrating the evolution of writing from ancient stone inscriptions to modern alphabets.
