Tiger Woods returns to competitive golf, but his team loses TGL championship Tiger Woods made a brief return to competitive golf on Tuesday night, participating in the TGL indoor golf championship as part of his team, Jupiter Links Golf Club. His first competitive shot—a 25-foot birdie putt—missed, but the moment marked his official comeback after more than a year away from the sport. The event took place in a Palm Beach Gardens arena, where Woods joined his teammates Max Homa and Tom Kim in the second championship match of a best-of-three series. Jupiter Links had already lost the first match to Justin Rose, Tommy Fleetwood, and Sahith Theegala’s LA Golf Club, leaving little room for error in the second round. Woods, a 15-time major champion, had not competed in a PGA Tour event since the 2024 Open Championship, 614 days earlier. His last competitive appearance was in the PNC Championship with his son, Charlie, in December 2024. Earlier in 2025, he played in the early rounds of TGL’s inaugural season but had been sidelined by injuries. On March 11, 2024, he announced Achilles surgery, followed by back surgery seven months later. Despite the setbacks, Woods decided to step into the action, stating he wanted to contribute to his team rather than remain a spectator. Before the match, Woods told ESPN’s Scott Van Pelt, “I’ve been a cheerleader all these matches, and I want to contribute.” His first full swing of the event was a 3-wood that traveled 272 virtual yards, landing 24 virtual feet from the pin. His teammates later cleaned up the hole to secure Jupiter Links’ first point of the night. Later in the match, Woods showcased a vintage “stinger” shot, sending his tee ball under a virtual rock bridge.#tiger_woods #jupiter_links_golf_club #max_homa #tom_kim #palm_beach_gardens
