Mysterious Death of Woman in Forest Sparks Debate on Man-Animal Conflict, Cops Claim Leopard Kill A 54-year-old woman, Sadhana Uike, was found dead in a remote ravine in the dense forests of Sonegaon-Dhanegaon Angal, located in the Tumsar Hardoli range of Bhandara district, sparking a heated debate over whether her death was caused by a wild leopard or a deliberate act of violence. The incident has left investigators and local authorities divided, with forest officials and police offering conflicting theories about the circumstances surrounding her death. Uike, a resident of Dhanegaon, went missing after entering the forest to collect mahua flowers on April 17. Her body was recovered from a 15-foot-deep ravine several days later. Forensic experts have not yet determined the exact cause of death, but police investigations have pointed to deep puncture wounds and claw marks on both sides of her neck. These injuries, along with drag marks visible on the ground, have led authorities to suggest a wild animal attack. However, the absence of injuries on her feet or heels has raised questions, as such marks are typically associated with predators dragging victims through rough terrain. Forest official SP Bhandara Noorul Hasan, who led the investigation, stated that the body was dragged for nearly 3 kilometers before being dropped into a sinkhole used by mining agencies. Hasan claimed the leopard likely attempted to climb a nearby tree with the body before losing grip, resulting in the body falling into the ravine. He emphasized that there was no apparent motive for murder, as Uike came from an economically disadvantaged family and had no known conflicts or property disputes.#bhandara_district #sadana_uike #sonegaon_dhanegaon_angal #tumsar_hardoli #sp_bhandara_noorul_hasan
