The purchases, totaling ₹45 crore, were made by Yadav’s wife, son, siblings, and first cousins, as well as through four family-run real estate companies. The land acquisitions are concentrated in zones where the government has initiated significant infrastructure upgrades, including new highways, road expansions, and changes in land use from agricultural to residential or commercial. The Ujjain Master Plan 2035, released in May 2023, outlined these changes, and Yadav, who has a long history of involvement in the city’s development, has been linked to several projects in the region. His family’s purchases began shortly after he took office in December 2023, with records showing that at least 111 acres of the 168 acres acquired were located near highway and road projects announced by his government.
