Fire Devastates Decor Firm Godown in Besa, 50 Lakh Loss Reported A severe fire broke out at a decoration accessories godown and office in Besa, Nagpur, on Sunday afternoon, causing extensive damage and an estimated loss of 50 lakh rupees. The incident occurred at Utkarsh Society on Pipla Road, where the blaze rapidly spread through the premises, which housed a variety of items including decorative materials, electrical wires, furniture, vehicles, catering-related accessories, and event equipment. Thick plumes of smoke engulfed the locality, prompting immediate emergency responses. Preliminary investigations suggest the fire may have been triggered during welding work being conducted at the site. Residents reported that the first fire tender arrived but ran out of water shortly after firefighting operations began, raising concerns about the adequacy of initial response efforts. Additional fire tenders were subsequently dispatched from the Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) to areas such as Narendra Nagar, Sakkardara, and Trimurti Nagar to assist in extinguishing the flames. Firefighters battled the blaze for nearly two hours before bringing the situation under control. The godown belonged to Rahul Hiware, and authorities estimated the total loss at approximately 50 lakh rupees. While items worth nearly 1 lakh rupees were reportedly salvaged, the majority of the contents were destroyed. Fortunately, no injuries or casualties were reported during the incident. The fire has raised questions about safety protocols and emergency preparedness, particularly regarding the availability of water for firefighting. Local authorities are likely to review the incident to prevent similar occurrences in the future.#nagpur_municipal_corporation #besa #rahul_hiware #utkarsh_society #pipla_road
