Panaji Municipal Corporation Election Results: BJP's 'Babush' panel dominates CCP polls with sweeping victory The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) secured a decisive victory in the Panaji Municipal Corporation (CCP) elections, winning 27 out of 30 wards. The vote counting, which concluded on March 13, 2026, saw the BJP's 'Babush' panel led by Panaji MLA Atanasio 'Babush' Monserrate outperform the Ami Panjekar faction. Voter turnout reached 69.07 percent, with Ward 23 recording the highest participation at 81.94 percent. The election, held across 48 booths, featured 69 candidates, including reservations for 10 wards for women, 8 for Other Backward Classes (OBCs), and 1 for Scheduled Tribes (STs). In the 2021 CCP elections, the BJP-backed panel under Monserrate had already dominated, winning 25 of 30 wards despite a lower turnout of 70.19 percent. This year’s results further solidified the BJP’s control over Panaji’s civic governance, with the Monserrate faction maintaining influence over key areas such as infrastructure and waste management. The BJP’s success underscores its stronghold in the coastal capital, where local rivalries have historically shaped electoral outcomes. The BJP’s victory was marked by wins in multiple wards, including Ward 23, where candidate Vidhya Satish Gadkar defeated Ami Panjekar’s Jyoti Masurkar. Other notable BJP wins included Ward 21, secured by Manisha Manerkar, and Ward 25, won by Kirti Sakhalkar. The party also claimed Ward 24 with Karan Yatin Parekh and Ward 27 with Vithal Chopdekar. Meanwhile, Ami Panjekar candidates managed to win a few wards, such as Ward 29, where Liberata Mendes E Achari defeated BJP’s Sandra Maria Da Cunha.#bharatiya_janata_party #atanasio_babush_monserrate #panaji_municipal_corporation #ami_panjekar #ward_23
