Finally, Rs151Cr Dipti Signal Flyover to Open on July 12 The Dipti Signal–Wardhaman Nagar Flyover in Nagpur, constructed by the Maharashtra Rail Infrastructure Development Corporation (MRIDC), is set to open to traffic on July 12. The project, which cost approximately Rs150 crore, has been delayed for nearly two months despite being fully completed. Union minister Nitin Gadkari will inaugurate the four-lane flyover, accompanied by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Revenue Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule, East Nagpur MLA Krishna Khopde, and other officials. The flyover aims to alleviate traffic congestion in one of Nagpur’s busiest corridors by eliminating delays at the busy railway crossing between Itwari and Dighori stations. The 1,320-meter-long structure connects Bhagwan Sambhavnath Square (Wardhaman Nagar) with Dipti Signal Road. It features pedestrian walkways, LED street lighting, and a decorative orange-themed sculpture at its central junction. The flyover’s design includes a roundabout to streamline merging traffic and a connecting arm towards Kalamna Road, which is currently under construction. Officials highlighted that the project will improve traffic movement, reduce travel time, and enhance road safety for commuters in east Nagpur. The delay in opening the flyover drew criticism from citizens and motorists, who questioned why the completed infrastructure could not be made operational sooner. The Maharashtra Rail Infrastructure Development Corporation (MRIDC), also known as MahaRail, had kept the road open to traffic (ROB) closed while awaiting a formal VIP inauguration.
