The leaders highlighted that the Veligonda Project, a 37-kilometer tunnel system, saw significant advancements during the combined tenure of YS Rajasekhara Reddy and YS Jagan Mohan Reddy. They stated that over 31 kilometers of the tunnel works were completed under their leadership, far exceeding the 6.68 kilometers executed during Naidu’s previous terms as Chief Minister. Additionally, they noted that 10.56 kilometers of work were completed specifically under YS Jagan’s regime. The YSRCP emphasized that the project’s critical milestones, including the completion of Tunnel-1 and Tunnel-2, were achieved in January 2021 and January 2024, respectively. These tunnels were formally dedicated to the nation by YS Jagan in March 2024. The YSRCP leaders also criticized Naidu for failing to deliver meaningful progress on the project during his eight years in office, despite laying the foundation stone in 1996.
