Sonu Sood defends Alia Bhatt amid Cannes 2026 trolling; says “People who are busy building dreams don’t have time to pull others down” Actor Sonu Sood has come out in support of Alia Bhatt after the actress faced heavy trolling on social media over her recent appearance at the Cannes Film Festival 2026. While Alia attended the prestigious event as the global ambassador for L'Oréal Paris, sections of the internet criticised her red carpet looks and public appearances, leading to widespread online discussions. Amid the criticism, Sonu Sood took to X (formerly Twitter) to share a strongly worded message encouraging positivity and support instead of negativity. Without directly addressing the trolls, the actor highlighted the importance of celebrating Indian artists representing the country on international platforms. “When one of our own walks onto an international stage, it should be a moment of pride, not a reason to search for flaws. Not every achievement needs validation from cameras, headlines, or strangers to be meaningful. The courage to stand there, represent your craft, and carry your journey with grace is an achievement in itself. In a world addicted to trolling, choose encouragement. Because people who are busy building dreams don’t have time to pull others down. Keep shining, my friend. The right people saw your light”, he wrote on Twitter aka X. Supreme Court grants bail to Vikram Bhatt and wife Shwetambari Bhatt, sends both parties for mediation The Supreme Court on Thursday granted regular bail to filmmaker Vikram Bhatt and his wife Shwetambari Bhatt in a multi-crore cheating case linked to a dispute over a proposed biopic on the late wife of Ajay Murdia, the owner of Indira IVF. The couple was arrested by the Rajasthan Police in December last year and sent to Jodhpur Central Jail. Earlier, the Supreme Court had granted interim bail to Shwetambari Bhatt. On Thursday, a bench comprising Chief Justice of India Surya Kant, Justice Joymalya Bagchi and Justice Vipul Pancholi set aside the Rajasthan High Court’s order denying bail and granted them regular bail. The court said the dispute appeared to arise mainly from a commercial transaction and suggested that the parties try to resolve the matter through mediation. It directed them to appear before the Supreme Court Mediation Centre to explore a possible settlement of their payment dispute. “It seems to us that dispute essentially pertains to a commercial transaction, though the ingredients of committing offence of cheating, etc, have been expressly mentioned in the FIR. Be that as it may, it may be appropriate for the parties to resolve the disputes through mediation. The regular bail has been granted with the expectation that the appellants will try and make efforts for the amicable resolution of the dispute,” the bench observed in its order. Supreme Court grants interim bail to Vikram Bhatt and wife in Rs. 30 crores fraud case The Supreme Court of India on Friday granted interim bail to filmmaker Vikram Bhatt and his wife Shwetambari Bhatt in connection with a Rs. 30 crores cheating case lodged in Rajasthan. A Bench comprising Chief Justice of India Surya Kant and Justice Joymalya Bagchi passed the order after the couple approached the apex court challenging the Rajasthan High Court decision that had earlier declined them bail. The matter pertains to allegations that funds collected for film production were allegedly diverted. The complaint was filed by Dr Ajay Murdia, associated with the Indira Group of Companies, which operates the fertility chain Indira IVF as well as Indira Entertainment LLP. Reports indicate that Bhatt and his wife were taken into custody in December 2025 and subsequently remanded to judicial custody. On January 31, the Jodhpur Bench of the Rajasthan High Court rejected their bail application, following which they moved the Supreme Court seeking relief. As per Bar and Bench, Senior Advocate Mukul Rohatgi, appearing for the couple, submitted, “He cannot put the director, his wife, everybody in jail. . . What is going on?” The State opposed the plea, arguing, “It's not so simple. ₹30 crore fraud!” During the hearing, Justice Bagchi observed, “But you cannot use these cases to recover money,” questioning whether criminal law mechanisms should be employed for financial recovery.
