Dhurandhar 2 Box Office Surpasses Rs. 1,120 Crore as It Competes with Pushpa 2 Ranveer Singh’s spy thriller Dhurandhar 2: The Revenge continues to dominate the box office, maintaining its momentum as it enters its sixth week of release. As of April 22, 2026—Day 35 since its theatrical debut on March 19, 2026—the film has amassed a domestic net collection of Rs. 1,120.27 crore, with its India gross reaching Rs. 1,340.92 crore. The film now trails Allu Arjun’s Pushpa 2: The Rule by approximately Rs. 114 crore, which holds the all-time Indian domestic net record at Rs. 1,234.1 crore. Despite the release of Akshay Kumar’s Bhooth Bangla, which reduced Dhurandhar 2’s screen count, the spy thriller remains a strong contender for the record. The film’s performance has been bolstered by its deferred OTT release strategy and a dedicated fanbase. Its first week delivered Rs. 674.17 crore, including a record-breaking Rs. 90 crore opening day, the highest single-day gross in Hindi cinema history. By Week 2, it surpassed the lifetime gross of its predecessor Dhurandhar (Rs. 840.20 crore) in just 11 days. Week 3 marked a milestone as the film became the first Hindi film to cross Rs. 1,000 crore in India net collections, and by Week 4, it had reached Rs. 1,100 crore. On Day 34, Dhurandhar 2 earned Rs. 2.10 crore net, a 23.5% increase from the previous day’s Rs. 1.62 crore. With 3,854 shows nationwide, the film’s domestic net collection climbed to Rs. 1,119.29 crore, while its global gross reached Rs. 1,761.76 crore, including Rs. 0.50 crore overseas. On Day 35, live tracking indicated an additional Rs. 0.88 crore net, pushing the total domestic net to Rs. 1,120.27 crore. The film’s success is attributed to its ensemble cast, including Ranveer Singh as Jaskirat Singh Rangi, R. Manav Gohil recalls ‘few months gap’ in Dhurandhar as Ranveer Singh, Deepika Padukone welcomed baby; lauds R Madhavan, Aditya Dhar Manav Gohil, an actor and filmmaker, shared insights about the production of Dhurandhar during an interview, highlighting the real-life events that coincided with the film’s shoot. He revealed that there was a significant gap in the filming schedule, during which Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone welcomed their baby. This personal milestone for the couple coincided with a noticeable shift in the film’s narrative, which Gohil noted felt abrupt to viewers but was the result of real-life circumstances. Gohil described how Ranveer’s physical transformation for the role was striking. He explained that when Ranveer first joined the shoot in Bangkok, he was in his “Hamza phase”—a character marked by intense physicality and discipline. Months later, upon his return to the set, Ranveer had transitioned into the role of Jaskirat, a sharp, young character. Gohil emphasized that the transformation was so evident that it felt like “someone straight out of the army.” He attributed this shift to Ranveer’s dedication, stating, “Knowing Ranveer and the kind of dedication he has towards cinema, I was sure he would create magic—and he did, undoubtedly.” The actor also reflected on the challenges of filming during this period. Gohil mentioned that the gap in the schedule allowed for a natural break, which helped Ranveer and Deepika balance their personal and professional lives. He noted that when Ranveer returned to the set, his commitment to the role was unwavering, which contributed to the film’s authenticity. In addition to discussing Ranveer’s performance, Gohil praised his collaboration with R Madhavan, who played a pivotal role in the film.#aditya_dhar #ranveer_singh #r_madhavan #deepika_padukone #manav_gohil

Aditya Dhar Reveals How 400 Stuntmen Worked On Dhurandhar: "The Number Sounds Unreal" Aditya Dhar, the director of the Bollywood action franchise Dhurandhar, shared an in-depth account of the immense effort and collaboration required to bring the film’s high-octane sequences to life. In a heartfelt message posted on X, Dhar highlighted the extraordinary scale of the stunt team and the dedication of his action crew, who executed some of the most complex and dangerous stunts in the industry. The director emphasized the challenges of pushing creative boundaries while maintaining safety and precision, calling the process a blend of conviction and madness. Dhar described how he frequently approached his lead stunt coordinator, Aejaz Gulab, with ideas that he himself found implausible. Examples included a character being cooked inside an industrial pressure cooker, someone being dragged through busy streets behind a speeding bike with a noose around their neck, and 30 stuntmen hanging upside down from fans and spinning at the push of a button. Despite the absurdity of these concepts, Dhar noted that his team never hesitated or judged his proposals. Instead, they embraced the challenges with unwavering commitment, treating each idea as a problem to solve rather than a fantasy. The scale of the stunt team was staggering. Dhar recalled a moment during filming when he informed Aejaz that they were running out of stuntmen, as the same faces kept reappearing. Aejaz responded with a casual remark: “There’s no one left, we’ve used almost everyone in Mumbai.” This statement underscored the massive effort required to execute the film’s sequences, which involved more than 400 stunt performers. Even now, Dhar admitted, the number “sounds unreal,” but he insisted it was necessary to achieve the film’s ambitious vision.#aditya_dhar #aejaz_gulab #sea_young_oh #yannick_ben #ramazan_bulut

Dhurandhar 2 OTT Release Delayed to Post-IPL Window on JioHotstar The Ranveer Singh-starring spy thriller Dhurandhar 2: The Revenge has pushed back its anticipated OTT debut due to its continued box office success, with the digital rights now expected to stream on JioHotstar in late May or early June 2026. The delay, attributed to the film’s strong theatrical performance and strategic timing, marks a shift from its predecessor’s Netflix release. The film, which premiered in cinemas on March 19, 2026, has maintained robust audience engagement even weeks after its theatrical run. Global box office collections have surpassed ₹1,600 crore, with daily earnings remaining strong in its third week. This sustained performance has prompted the filmmakers to extend the theatrical window beyond the typical eight-week standard in Bollywood, ensuring cinema revenue is maximized before transitioning to streaming. JioHotstar, which acquired the digital rights for a reported ₹120–150 crore, plans to debut the film after the conclusion of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026. Industry insiders suggest the OTT release will fall in the last week of May or the first week of June 2026, aligning with the platform’s strategy to avoid competition with the IPL’s massive viewership. A source told Filmibeat, “Dhurandhar: The Revenge is slated to premiere on JioHotstar after the culmination of IPL 2026. The film will be released online for streaming in the last week of May or first week of June 2026, depending on JioHotstar’s programming schedule.” The decision to delay the OTT launch reflects both strategic and financial considerations. While Netflix had paid a high price for the rights to the first film, the makers of Dhurandhar 2 sought a premium for the sequel, anticipating its potential to break box office records.#aditya_dhar #ranveer_singh #ipl_2026 #jiohotstar #dhurandhar_2

Akshaye Khanna, Sanjay Dutt Almost Said No to Dhurandhar Casting director Mukesh Chhabra recently shared insights into the casting process for Aditya Dhar’s film Dhurandhar, revealing that prominent actors Akshaye Khanna, Sanjay Dutt, and Arjun Rampal initially hesitated to join the project. Chhabra, who worked closely with the director during the casting phase, described the actors’ reluctance as a significant challenge. Despite their reservations, the trio eventually agreed to participate, contributing to the film’s eventual success. Chhabra’s comments highlight the complexities of assembling a stellar cast for a film, particularly when dealing with high-profile actors who may have competing commitments or personal doubts about a project. The casting director emphasized that the decision to cast these actors was not made lightly, as their involvement was crucial to the film’s direction and appeal. He also noted that the process involved extensive discussions to align the actors’ vision with the film’s narrative. The film, which explores themes of power, corruption, and redemption, faced initial skepticism from some industry insiders due to its ambitious scope. However, the inclusion of Khanna, Dutt, and Rampal helped solidify its credibility and attract a wider audience. Chhabra’s openness about the casting journey provides a rare glimpse into the behind-the-scenes dynamics of Bollywood, where balancing artistic vision with commercial viability often requires careful negotiation. The project’s release date, which was announced in late 2025, marked a significant milestone for Dhar, who has previously directed critically acclaimed films. Dhurandhar 2: Mukesh Chhabra Reveals Casting Challenges and Actor Hesitations Aditya Dhar’s Dhurandhar has become a standout film in recent years, praised for its performances and storytelling. However, the casting process for its sequel, Dhurandhar 2, proved to be a complex endeavor, according to casting director Mukesh Chhabra. In an interview with Hindustan Times, Chhabra shared insights into how the star-studded ensemble came together, highlighting the initial hesitations of several prominent actors. Chhabra revealed that while R Madhavan was the first to commit to the project, others like Arjun Rampal, Sanjay Dutt, and Akshaye Khanna were initially unsure. “Initially, even Arjun Rampal, Sanjay Dutt, and Akshaye Khanna were not sure about being part of the film. Only R Madhavan said yes,” Chhabra explained. He noted that the scale of the casting process evolved over time, with the team initially envisioning a different kind of cast. “We had a very different kind of actors in mind. Then I pushed him to think bigger,” Chhabra said, referring to Aditya Dhar. The casting director emphasized that the ensemble’s final formation was a gradual process. “When you start a film, you wonder how so many big actors will come on board. At first, none of this was there, but gradually, as we discussed, it started falling into place,” Chhabra added. He acknowledged the challenges of securing such a large cast, particularly addressing concerns about screen time. Chhabra highlighted that many actors were hesitant due to worries about their roles’ visibility. “Most actors usually worry about how much screen time they will get. We told them that here, impact is what matters,” he explained. He used R Madhavan’s role as an example, noting that despite working only 12 to 14 days, the actor’s performance had a significant impact.#hindustan_times #aditya_dhar #arjun_rampal #r_madhavan #mukesh_chhabra

Dhurandhar 2: When Cinema Becomes Catharsis Mar 26, 2026 | Updated 12:55 PM GMT+5:30 Dhurandhar 2 is a masterful blend of fact and fiction, and the blend is seamless because Dhar knows exactly where one ends and the other begins, and he is not confused about which serves the story. I finally watched Dhurandhar 2 at a late-night show on a Wednesday, and yes, the hall was almost full, and yes, as most reviews say, the movie is violent. I am not enamoured by cinematic violence. Decades of watching Hindi film heroes punch their way through armies of goons has anaesthetised most of us to screen bloodshed. Violence in Hindi movies has always been a spectacle, not a sensation. But what director Aditya Dhar has achieved in Dhurandhar 2 is something incredible. The violence feels cathartic, purgatory, purifying. Only once before has on-screen violence felt so cathartic, and yes, so lyrical. That was in Kill Bill Volume 1, where Uma Thurman faces Lucy Liu in a snow-drenched, moonlit sword fight that transcends blood and gore and becomes something close to poetry in motion. Dhar achieves a similar alchemy in Dhurandhar 2. The violence does not disgust. It releases. The question worth asking is what makes the depiction of on-screen violence in Dhurandhar 2 feel like justice while other similar depictions feel merely gratuitous? The answer lies in the weight of history behind it. While making Dhurandhar, Aditya Dhar was not merely making a spy thriller; he was performing an exorcism. Dhar is a Kashmiri Hindu. His family was among the hundreds of thousands who were driven from the land of their ancestors, not too long ago in history.#aditya_dhar #ranveer_singh #kashmir #isil #zahoor_mistry

Bollywood Film 'Dhurandhar: The Revenge' Surpasses Rs 1000 Crore in 7 Days Despite Early Setbacks The action-packed film Dhurandhar: The Revenge, starring Ranveer Singh, has achieved a remarkable milestone by crossing the Rs 1000 crore mark at the box office in just seven days of its release. Directed by Aditya Dhar, the movie’s success has been bolstered by its gripping narrative, intense performances, and strategic marketing. However, the journey to this triumph was not without challenges, as the film faced initial hurdles, including negative publicity and mixed audience reactions. One of the key figures behind the film’s turnaround is actor Danish Pandor, who plays a pivotal role in the story. In a recent interview, Pandor opened up about the early setbacks the film encountered. “The first few days were tough. There were a lot of negative reviews and some media outlets questioned the film’s potential. But we stayed focused on our craft and the story we wanted to tell,” he shared. Pandor’s candid reflections highlight the resilience of the cast and crew, who worked tirelessly to refine the film’s direction and ensure it resonated with audiences. The film’s initial challenges were partly attributed to its unconventional storyline and the high expectations set by its star-studded cast. However, as word of mouth improved and audiences embraced its bold themes, Dhurandhar: The Revenge began to gain momentum. Its box office success has since become a testament to the power of perseverance and the importance of staying true to one’s creative vision. Beyond the financial success, the film has also sparked conversations about its social commentary and the portrayal of complex characters. Pandor emphasized that the film’s message about resilience and overcoming adversity is at the core of its appeal.#bollywood #aditya_dhar #ranveer_singh #dhurandhar_the_revenge #danish_pandor

‘Dhurandhar: The Revenge’ movie review: A loud, violent spectacle that forgets to breathe The sequel to Dhurandhar attempts to outdo its predecessor in intensity and spectacle, but at the cost of narrative depth. Ranveer Singh’s performance as undercover agent Jaskirat Singh Rangi, now embedded as Hamza Ali Mazari in Karachi’s Lyari underworld, anchors the film despite its sprawling, often exhausting plot. The story picks up immediately after the first film’s climax, with Hamza rising to power following the death of gang leader Rehman Dakait. Fuelled by personal tragedy and radicalisation, he navigates a web of gang wars, shifting alliances, and threats from corrupt officials and ISI operatives. The film’s premise revolves around Hamza’s mission to dismantle terror networks, but the narrative becomes increasingly entangled in a brutal personal vendetta, blurring the line between duty and vengeance. Aditya Dhar’s direction leans heavily on visceral violence and grandiose visuals, creating a world that feels more like an extended web series than a cohesive theatrical film. The runtime of 229 minutes is dominated by indulgent action sequences that prioritize spectacle over substance, leaving little room for emotional nuance. While Ranveer Singh delivers a compelling performance, shifting seamlessly between vulnerability, cold calculation, and unhinged ferocity, the film’s reliance on gratuitous violence risks desensitizing the audience to its own brutality. The soundtrack, which includes repurposed songs like Boney M’s Rasputin and Bappi Lahiri’s Tamma Tamma, adds an anachronistic flair but feels more like a nostalgic throwback than a creative choice. The film’s political undertones are unmistakable, with its portrayal of counter-terror operations and nationalistic fervor aligning closely with government narratives.#aditya_dhar #ranveer_singh #karachi #lyari_underworld #is_i
