11.8kg Ganja Seized in Akola Railway Station Operation Akola police seized 11.835 kg of ganja and arrested three individuals near the railway station area during an operation named ‘Operation Prahar’ on Thursday. The suspects, identified as Gaurav Vijay Ingle (21), Rahul Balasaheb Deshmukh (22), and Devanand Gajanan Shelke (23), were apprehended after a police team laid a trap near the chief health inspector’s building at the railway station square. The operation was initiated following intelligence that a group would arrive with ganja in two bags. The recovered items included two mobile phones, with the total value of the seized goods amounting to Rs3.21 lakh. During interrogation, a significant quantity of ganja was found in the possession of the accused. A case has been registered at Ramdaspeth police station under Sections 8(c) and 20(b) of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. Further investigations are ongoing to trace the source and distribution network of the seized narcotics. The operation was supervised by senior officials, including additional superintendent of police BP Reddy and sub-divisional police officer Sudarshan Patil. The police team comprised sub-inspectors Nilesh Gaikwad and Pradeep Jogdand, along with members of the Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) from Amravati. The suspects, residents of Dongav in Mehkar taluka of Buldhana district, were intercepted and taken into custody. The police emphasized that the operation was part of broader efforts to combat drug trafficking in the region.
