Three Buldhana Children Die of Suspected Food Poisoning Three children from a single family died in Buldhana district after suspected food poisoning, sparking concerns about food safety in rural areas. The incident occurred in Dhad village on Monday, where the family of Mohammad Wasim resided. The deceased were identified as Ali (4), Masira (7), and Fatima (10). Two other family members, a 12-year-old girl and a 30-year-old woman, were hospitalized but remained stable. The family had attended a wedding function on the night of April 4, where they consumed food and ice cream. Shortly after returning home, several members began experiencing symptoms such as vomiting, diarrhea, and abdominal pain. Their condition worsened overnight, leading to their admission at a rural hospital in Dhad the following morning. Initially, they responded to treatment and were discharged, but their health deteriorated again later that day. They were transferred to a hospital in Buldhana for further care. Two children died at the Dhad facility, while the third succumbed at a private hospital in Buldhana. Police stated that the exact cause of death would be confirmed through postmortem reports, though preliminary findings suggest contaminated food or ice cream may be responsible. Station house officer Pratap Bhose confirmed that a case has been registered and an investigation is underway. "Food samples and medical records are being examined to ascertain the exact cause," he said. The incident has raised questions about food safety practices in rural regions, particularly during social gatherings where large quantities of food are prepared. Local authorities are urging families to exercise caution when consuming food from external sources and to ensure proper hygiene and storage conditions.#buldhana_district #dhad_village #mohammad_wasim #pratap_bhose #food_poisoning_incident

HC moots panel to study rising Lonar water level The Nagpur bench of the Bombay high court has proposed the formation of a committee to investigate the rising water levels at Lonar Lake, a crater formed by a meteorite impact in Buldhana district. The court directed the amicus curiae, Mohit Khajanchi, who is handling a suo moto public interest litigation (PIL) on the matter, to recommend names of experts for the committee. The high court requested the amicus curiae to submit the proposed members during the next hearing scheduled for April 7, without waiting for responses from government departments that had been served with notices. Since September 2025, the water level at Lonar Lake has risen by 15 to 20 feet, submerging several ancient Shiva temples and the Kamalja Devi Temple located along the lake’s banks. Conservationists have raised concerns that delays in identifying the root cause of the rising water levels could threaten the lake’s unique biodiversity and its geological significance. The committee’s task will involve analyzing the phenomenon and proposing solutions to address the issue. The high court’s initiative underscores the urgency of understanding the environmental and ecological implications of the rising water levels. The lake, a site of both cultural and scientific importance, has drawn attention due to its unusual formation and the potential risks posed by the changing water levels. The proposed committee aims to bring together experts in geology, hydrology, and environmental science to conduct a thorough assessment. The court’s decision to act swiftly highlights the growing concern over natural phenomena that may have long-term impacts on ecosystems and heritage sites.#bombay_high_court #nagpur_bench #lonar_lake #mohit_khajanchi #buldhana_district
