3 Arrested in Beltarodi for Fake Temple Donation Racket The Beltarodi police station in Nagpur, Maharashtra, arrested three individuals on Sunday for allegedly impersonating representatives of the Chamatkari Shri Hanuman Mandir in Jam Sawli and orchestrating a fake donation scheme. The suspects, identified as Krishna Walke from Mohpa, Kalmeshwar Raja Kale from Babulkheda, and Vishal Walke from Katol, were detained after a complaint was filed by Rajendra Sangam, a 50-year-old resident of the area. Sangam alleged that the trio approached him at his residence around 9 a.m. on July 5, claiming to be authorized representatives of the temple. They solicited donations for religious activities such as Mahaprasad, using forged receipt books to collect funds. Sangam, suspecting foul play, promptly alerted the police. A team led by police sub-inspector Amol Shinde conducted the arrest operation. During the investigation, the police contacted the temple trust’s secretary to verify the authenticity of the suspects’ claims. The temple authorities confirmed that none of the accused were authorized to collect donations. Preliminary inquiries revealed that the trio had already defrauded at least one resident, extracting 101 (likely a typo for ₹101) through forged documents. All three suspects are currently in police custody, according to senior inspector Ritesh Aher of the Beltarodi police station. Local resident Jitendra Chandurkar, health committee chairperson of Besa Pipla Nagar Panchayat, provided additional context.
