A case was registered under relevant legal sections and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses (POCSO) Act following the incident. The case initially remained hidden as the girl’s family refused to disclose details, claiming she had not left the house. Investigators faced challenges in obtaining cooperation, as the girl was medically unfit to provide a statement in the early stages of the probe. Even later, she allegedly avoided answering questions, possibly to protect the accused. Police conducted repeated visits to the family’s residence and monitored movements closely. A breakthrough came when investigators analyzed mobile phone records. The girl had been using her mother’s phone, which revealed frequent chats and prolonged calls to a specific number traced to her maternal cousin.
