Defamation Case: Delhi High Court Refuses Immediate Relief to Anjana Om Kashyap Against Khan Sir The Delhi High Court on Monday rejected a request for interim relief from journalist Anjana Om Kashyap and the TV Today Network in their defamation case against Khan Sir and others. The court directed the respondents to file their response to the petition and scheduled the next hearing for June 17. Justice Neena Bansal Krishna, presiding over the case, heard arguments from Kashyap’s legal team, who sought the removal of alleged defamatory content, a ban on future posts, and a compensation of 2 crore rupees. The court, however, declined to grant immediate relief, emphasizing the need for the defense to respond first. The case originated on May 29 when Kashyap, during a show on Aaj Tak, commented on the increasing commercialization of education and the growing influence of online "star teachers." She described the remarks as a legitimate journalistic critique of public issues. Subsequently, from May 30 to June 4, Khan Sir and others allegedly launched a social media campaign against Kashyap and India Today, using derogatory terms like "bikau reporter" (sellable journalist) and "chatukar" (sleazy) and accusing them of running a "fake news shop." The petition names Khan Sir, teacher Abhinay Sharma, Babita Tyagi, Arvind Bhadouria, and several social media handles, along with 4PM News Network, as defendants. Kashyap’s legal team argued that the defendants’ posts and videos spread harmful content, exposing her family to public scrutiny and potential safety risks.
