Chandrapur to Receive 30 Electric City Buses Under PM e-Bus Scheme Chandrapur is set to launch its first fleet of 30 electric city buses under the Centre’s PM e-Bus Sewa initiative, marking a significant step toward modernizing public transportation in the city. The Union Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs has approved the procurement of 50 electric buses for Chandrapur, with an initial batch of 30 to be operationalized in the first phase. The remaining 20 buses are scheduled for induction in a subsequent phase. This initiative aims to enhance connectivity for both urban and rural residents by linking Chandrapur with key towns and villages within a 25-kilometer radius, including Ballarpur, Bhadravati, Ghugghus, Bamni, Arvat-Charwar, and Chichpalli on the Mul route. The project will be supported by the Chandrapur Municipal Corporation (CMC), which plans to develop a dedicated bus terminal and charging depot on vacant land near Krishi Bhavan. This facility will be integrated with the city’s main bus station, ensuring seamless operations. To make the service affordable, the Centre will provide an operational subsidy of ₹25 per kilometer, which is expected to keep fares low for commuters. The introduction of electric buses is projected to reduce vehicular emissions, strengthen public transport infrastructure, and provide Chandrapur with its first organized city bus service in years. ‘Oxford Of Vidarbha’ At Ballarpur To Begin New Chapter In Women’s Education Construction of the all-women’s university in Ballarpur, Maharashtra, has reached 75% completion, with academic operations set to commence from the 2026-27 session. The institution, established by the state government, aims to address regional disparities in higher education for women by creating a holistic learning environment. Vice-chancellor Ujwala Chakradeo emphasized that the campus is designed not only as an academic hub but also as a space fostering life skills and cultural integration. The architecture blends British and Indian styles, reflecting traditional university towns while adapting to local climatic and cultural conditions. The design is centered around the theme of "motherhood," influencing both academic programming and student life, from classroom layouts to residential facilities. The campus, spanning 1.5 lakh square metres, includes a central academic complex with teaching spaces and a 65,000-square-foot exhibition hall. Chakradeo highlighted that the exhibition hall will narrate the journey of women, from girlhood to motherhood, featuring historical figures like Jijabai and Ahilyabai Holkar. The university, backed by the Maharashtra Higher and Technical Education Department, plans to offer over 60 academic programs, prioritizing employability, interdisciplinary learning, and alignment with regional needs. A flagship residential program under the "Gurukul" initiative will provide fully residential courses for girls, marking a first in India.
