Edison Hardware Store Hosts Watch Party for Netflix Show Filmed There EDISON – When the Netflix crime-comedy series “Big Mistakes” premieres next week, it will already have a built-in fan base in the southern section of Edison. That’s because part of the show, starring Dan Levy of the Emmy Award-winning “Schitt’s Creek,” was filmed last summer inside a longtime local business, Edison Millwork and Hardware. To celebrate the show’s release, the store at 9 Old Post Road will host a public watch party beginning at 6:30 p.m. on April 11, using a widescreen projection television set up in the parking lot behind the store in its garden department. Owner Angelo Mancuso said the space is also used for Sunday concerts during the warmer months. “Anyone who wants to come and watch it is more than welcome,” said Mancuso, whose family-owned business has served the community for nearly 50 years. Mancuso emphasized his enjoyment of hosting events that bring people together, particularly during flower season. “It’s as much for my entertainment as it is for giving back to the community,” he added. According to a Facebook post promoting the event, attendees will receive a free bag of popcorn from the popcorn machine that appears in the show. Mancuso expressed his delight when the production selected his store as a filming location. “They treated us very well, like royalty, and I couldn’t be happier to have them find my store during our 50th anniversary year,” he said. He noted the store was chosen because it’s an authentic mom-and-pop operation. “I was fortunate that they chose my store,” he added. A two-minute trailer for “Big Mistakes,” which officially premieres April 9, has already been released. Mancuso mentioned the hardware store appears in roughly three scenes.#netflix #big_mistakes #edison_millwork_and_hardware #angelo_mancuso #edison
Dan Levy Felt Immediate Pressure About What He Was 'Doing Next' After 'Schitt's Creek' Ended Dan Levy, the creator and star of the iconic sitcom Schitt’s Creek, reflected on the intense pressure he faced in the immediate aftermath of the show’s 2020 finale. Speaking during a March 30 event to promote his new series Big Mistakes, Levy described how the end of the beloved show sparked an urgent question from industry insiders: “What are you doing next?” He called this relentless inquiry “a horrible way of doing business,” emphasizing the emotional and creative toll it took on him and his collaborators. Levy, 42, explained that the transition from Schitt’s Creek to his next project required a deliberate pause. “I needed to take a minute,” he said, noting that the show’s legacy—both personally and for its fans—demanded time to process. The six-season run of Schitt’s Creek, which starred his father Eugene Levy and co-star Catherine O’Hara, had been a defining chapter of his career. Levy described the final days of filming as “really, really hard,” recalling the bittersweet moment of removing his character David Rose’s shoes for the last time. The pressure to move on quickly, Levy argued, could undermine the creative process. “Jumping into something else almost does the new project a disservice,” he said. “You’re constantly going to be comparing it to the one that came before.” He emphasized the importance of allowing time for reflection, calling it necessary to “let the dust settle” before embarking on new work. This mindset informed his approach to Big Mistakes, a Netflix series set to premiere April 9. The show follows Nicky, a character played by Levy, and Morgan, portrayed by Taylor Ortega, as they are blackmailed into the world of organized crime.#dan_levy #eugene_levy #catherine_o_hara #big_mistakes #the_idol
