12-Hour Blackout Turns Night Into Ordeal For Zingabai Takli Residents Hundreds of residents in Shiv Nagar and Zingabai Takli endured a sleepless night after a prolonged power outage left the area in darkness during a sweltering heatwave. The disruption, which lasted nearly 12 hours, rendered fans, coolers, and air conditioners useless, forcing children, elderly individuals, and patients to cope with the oppressive conditions. The power supply was cut around 12:30 a.m. on Wednesday and remained unavailable until the morning, with a second outage occurring at 8 a.m., extending the total disruption. An official from the Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL) explained that the blackout was caused by a damaged circuit and cable. "A temporary repair was carried out during the night to restore supply, and the damaged cable was fully replaced in the morning," the official stated. However, residents expressed frustration over the lack of timely resolution and the repeated nature of such outages. In a separate incident, residents of Borgaon Basti on Gorewada Road also reported a lengthy power cut on Wednesday evening. Monisha Mukherjee, a resident of Shiv Nagar, described her attempts to contact MSEDCL’s toll-free helpline, which failed to respond despite multiple calls. "I finally managed to register a complaint, but power was restored only in the morning," she said. She added that similar disruptions had occurred frequently over the past two months, often due to cable faults and technical failures. Residents across Nagpur, including areas like Godhani, Gorewada, Katol Road, Mankapur, Besa, and Manewada, claimed that prolonged power outages have become increasingly common. They attributed this to the strain on the power infrastructure, which struggles to meet rising summer demand.#masedcl #zingabai_takli #shiv_nagar #borgaon_basti #gorewada_road
