BSNL Announces 5G Rollout in Tamil Nadu Within Next Year Chennai, Tamil Nadu — Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) has confirmed plans to launch 5G services across Tamil Nadu within the next year, according to a statement by the company’s Chief General Manager. The announcement was made during a press conference held by Sutakar Rao, the head of BSNL’s Chennai operations, who outlined the company’s strategy to enhance connectivity and expand its service offerings. As part of its efforts to attract new customers, BSNL introduced a prepaid service plan priced at just ₹1. This offer, valid until September 12, includes a free SIM card, 24 days of service, unlimited voice calls, 1 GB of data, and 100 SMS per day. The company also announced a one-year plan and a high-speed internet service package, both of which will be available to customers. Additionally, a new mobile application named “BSNL Care” was launched, integrating features such as prepaid recharge, postpaid bill payment, data usage tracking, complaint registration, and detailed service information. BSNL’s infrastructure in Chennai includes 1,902 towers, of which 1,214 have already been upgraded to support 4G services. The remaining towers are scheduled for upgrades within six months, ensuring uninterrupted connectivity for existing users. Once the upgrades are complete, the company expects to eliminate service disruptions and transition fully to 5G technology. The rollout of 5G services is expected to significantly improve internet speeds and reliability across Tamil Nadu, positioning BSNL as a key player in the region’s telecommunications landscape.
