Many areas across city to face power cuts today MSEDCL has announced scheduled power cuts across several parts of Nagpur on Wednesday (April 8) to conduct maintenance and repair work aimed at preventing technical failures and ensuring uninterrupted electricity supply during the summer season. The disruptions will affect multiple areas under the Congress Nagar division, with power outages planned from 9am to 12pm in Nelco Society, Sumit Nagar, Adhyapak Layout, Azad Hind Nagar, Takli Sim Water Tank area, and LIG-MIG Colony. In Jai Badrinath Society, Raut Wadi, Lokseva Nagar, Manish Layout, Gayatri Nagar, Parsodi, and Hanuman Mandir, power will be cut from 8am to 11am. Swavalambi Nagar and Deendayal Nagar will face outages from 8:30am to 12pm, while Jaiprakash Nagar, Sita Nagar, and Mahalaxmi Mandir will see cuts from 8am to 12pm. Additional outages will occur in Mahajan Market and Ayurvedic Market from 8am to 10am, and Eternity Mall, VIP Road, Kachipura, and Central Mall from 7am to 10am. Under the Mahal division, power supply will be affected in Omkar Nagar, Jaywant Nagar, Sai Nagar, and Gajanan Nagar from 9am to 1pm. Ayodhya Nagar, Uday Nagar, and Sai Mandir areas will experience outages from 7:30am to 12:30pm, while Medical Square, Rambagh Colony, Jattarodi, and TB Ward will remain without power from 9am to 1:30pm. In the Butibori division, Kachimet, Shanti Nagar, and Sant Jagnade Nagar will face cuts from 7am to 12 noon. Industrial units in MIDC, including Reliance Cement and Ishan Casting, will also be shut down from 10am. Discom officials stated that the work includes transformer maintenance, installation of new equipment, and pruning of tree branches. MSEDCL Plugs In 307 EV Charging Stations Across Nagpur District Nagpur: The district is witnessing a steady shift towards cleaner mobility with an increase in the number of electric vehicles (EVs). To support this transition, the Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Ltd (MSEDCL) has developed a widespread network of 307 public EV charging stations across the district. According to official data, there are as many as 49,565 electric vehicles currently on Nagpur district roads. With MSEDCL strengthening the charging infrastructure, vehicle owners will get access to fast-charging facilities not only at home but also during travel and emergencies. The state government has appointed MSEDCL as the nodal agency under its electric vehicle policy, tasking it with promoting EV adoption in key cities, including Nagpur, to curb pollution levels. As part of this mandate, the utility is prioritising electricity connections for charging stations and extending technical support to private players interested in entering the sector, in addition to setting up its own facilities. In the urban areas, Mahal leads with 84 stations, followed by Congress Nagar with 66, Civil Lines with 45, Butibori with 40, and Gandhibagh with 17 stations. In the rural belt, Mouda has 26 stations, Saoner 16, Katol 7, and Umred 6 stations. MSEDCL has also introduced the ‘PowerUp EV’ mobile application, which enables users to locate nearby charging stations, check availability, and book slots in advance, making the charging process seamless.
