CM Fadnavis Joins Devotees in Crafting Shivlings During Shravan Month Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis participated in a unique spiritual initiative on Sunday, joining thousands of devotees at Mankapur in Nagpur to shape Parthiv Shivlings as part of a month-long event during the Shravan month. The activity, organized by the Lotus Cultural and Sporting Association, aims to create 91 lakh (9.1 million) earthen Shivlings, which are made from soil collected from the banks of the Ganga. These Shivlings are immersed daily after sunset as part of the ritual. Fadnavis visited the Shiva Mandir at Mankapur, where the event is being held for the third consecutive year. Before engaging in the activity, he offered prayers and participated in the chanting of mantras. He then joined devotees in crafting three Shivlings himself, emphasizing the communal and spiritual significance of the event. Speaking afterward, Fadnavis highlighted the involvement of people across all age groups, which he said enriched the atmosphere during the holy month of Shravan. The organizers noted that the soil used for the Shivlings is sourced from the Ganga, symbolizing a connection to the sacred river. The event is set to conclude on September 12 with a yajna (fire ritual) followed by a Mahaprasad (communal feast). Former mayor Dayashankar Tiwari, one of the organizers, confirmed that the final day’s ceremonies will mark the culmination of the month-long effort.
