The traffic cop, Kunal Singh, 35, was returning home when a group of eight bikers, many riding with double moped axles, began weaving dangerously in front of his car near Martin Nagar culvert. After Singh honked to alert them, the bikers initially yielded but then accelerated toward Mankapur Chowk. Just before a traffic signal, one biker allegedly struck the rear of Singh’s car. The situation worsened as the group blocked his path, formed an unlawful assembly, hurled abuses, and issued death threats. They threw stones at the cop’s vehicle, shattered the rear trunk glass, and dented the bonnet. When Singh stepped out to confront them, the mob assaulted him, causing injuries to his neck and back. Passersby intervened, forcing the bikers to flee. Residents later provided a motorcycle registration number that aided police investigations. Mankapur police registered an FIR and arrested 14 suspects after analyzing CCTV footage and gathering witness information. Senior Inspector Haresh Kalsekar of the Mankapur police station confirmed that three of the accused have prior criminal records.
