MahaMetro Implements Heat Action Plan to Protect Workers Amid Rising Temperatures Nagpur: In response to soaring temperatures, MahaMetro has intensified on-site measures under its “Heat Action Plan – 2026” to ensure the safety and well-being of workers across the ongoing metro phase 2 project. The initiative includes the installation of 150 earthen pots filled with cool drinking water at strategic locations and the erection of 200 umbrellas to provide shade at construction sites. These efforts are part of a broader strategy to mitigate the risks of heat exposure while maintaining operational continuity. The plan also extends to traffic marshals, ensuring that all personnel remain protected during extreme weather conditions. Officials have reorganized work schedules to minimize exposure during peak afternoon heat, redistributing physically demanding tasks to cooler morning and evening hours. Workers are encouraged to take periodic breaks in shaded rest zones, where oral rehydration solutions (ORS) and other fluids are regularly distributed to prevent dehydration and heatstroke. Hydration is a central focus, with workers advised to drink water every 15 to 20 minutes. Water stations have been strategically placed near all work areas to ensure easy access. Additionally, a “buddy system” has been introduced, requiring workers to monitor each other for early signs of heat stress or exhaustion. This system enables quicker responses to emergencies and ensures that no individual is left unattended in hazardous conditions. Training sessions are being conducted to educate workers on recognizing symptoms of heat-related illnesses, such as dizziness, nausea, and excessive sweating.#nagpur #mahaMetro #heat_action_plan_2026 #metro_phase_2_project #workplace_safety
