Hero Splendor Plus Flex Fuel Variant Launched with E85 Compliance Features The Hero Splendor Plus Flex Fuel variant has been introduced as a specialized edition featuring modifications to ensure compatibility with E85 fuel, a blend of 85% ethanol and 15% petrol. The variant includes several design and technical changes that distinguish it from the standard Splendor Plus model. The first notable change is the new color scheme, which features a black finish paired with lime yellow and blue graphics. The fuel tank retains the "Hero" graphic on its upper section, similar to the standard model, but the lower portion now displays a "Flex Fuel" graphic to indicate its E85 compatibility. This visual distinction highlights the variant’s fuel-specific design. Under the hood, the Flex Fuel variant uses the same 97.2cc, air-cooled, single-cylinder engine as the standard model, which produces 8.4bhp and 8.3Nm of torque. However, the variant sees a slight increase in power, with an additional 1.3bhp and 0.25Nm of torque compared to the standard version. To support E85 fuel, the motorcycle includes a new fuel pump, a secondary air filter, and a recalibrated ECU (engine control unit) map. These adjustments are necessary to optimize combustion efficiency and fuel delivery for the higher ethanol content in E85. The instrument console has been upgraded to a semi-digital setup, replacing the analogue unit found on the standard model. The new design features an analogue speedometer in one pod and a digital display in the other for fuel level readouts. This change gives the motorcycle a more modern appearance while improving usability for riders. Pricing for the Flex Fuel variant is set at Rs. 82,810 (ex-showroom), which is approximately Rs. 5,000 higher than the standard Splendor Plus model.#hero_splendor_plus #flex_fuel_variant #e85_compliance #hero_motorcycles #ethanol_based_fuels

E85 Fuel Introduced in Delhi at Rs 82.12 per Litre The Union Petroleum and Natural Gas minister, Hardeep Singh Puri, inaugurated the first E85 fuel dispensing station in Delhi today, marking a significant step in the country’s push toward alternative fuels. E85, a blend of 85% ethanol and 15% gasoline, is priced at Rs 82.12 per litre in Delhi, which is Rs 20 cheaper than the regular E20 petrol priced at Rs 102.12 per litre as of June 5, 2026. The E85 dispensers will feature distinct branding to differentiate them from standard E20 fuel pumps, ensuring customers can easily identify the option. The fuel is now available for purchase by vehicles that meet the E85 compliance standards, effective immediately. The price difference between E85 and E20, though Rs 20, is considered minimal when factoring in the reduced fuel efficiency of E85-compliant vehicles. Ethanol’s lower energy density compared to petrol means E85 vehicles are likely to experience a 25-35% drop in efficiency compared to equivalent E20 models. Additionally, E85-compliant vehicles come at a higher cost. For instance, the newly launched Hero Splendor+ model, which is E85-ready, is priced Rs 6,000 higher than its regular counterpart. This cost differential may deter some consumers, despite the lower fuel price. In comparison, Brazil, a global leader in flex-fuel vehicle adoption, sees a price gap of about 36% between E100 (pure ethanol) and E27 (a standard ethanol blend). In India, the 20% price difference between E85 and E20 is relatively smaller, but the efficiency trade-off remains a critical consideration for potential buyers. The government’s plan to expand E85 infrastructure is part of a broader strategy to reduce dependence on fossil fuels and promote sustainable energy solutions.#delhi #hardeep_singh_puri #e85_fuel #hero_splendor_plus #maruti_wagon_r
