Twin Accidents on Samruddhi Expressway Leave One Dead, 27 Injured Two separate accidents on the Samruddhi Expressway in Buldhana district claimed one life and injured at least 27 others over the course of Sunday night and Monday morning. The incidents, occurring within hours of each other, highlighted the dangers of poor road safety and inadequate emergency response. The first accident took place late Sunday near Donggaon in Mehkar tehsil. A car carrying multiple occupants collided with a stationary truck. Police reported that the truck driver had failed to activate hazard lights or place reflective warning signs, leaving the vehicle undetected in reduced visibility. The car driver, unable to spot the truck, rammed it from behind. Krishna Sangeet Rathod, a 26-year-old resident of Somnath Nagar in Washim district, died instantly in the crash. The front of the car was completely destroyed, and other passengers sustained serious injuries. They were rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment. Hemant Chavan, a 38-year-old resident of Yavatmal district who was traveling in the same car, filed a complaint against the truck driver for negligence. Hours later, another collision occurred near Pimpri Mali village on the Nagpur corridor. A private travel bus en route from Pune to Nagpur collided with a truck at around 4:20 a.m. The bus driver allegedly lost control, leading to the crash. The truck driver fled the scene, prompting police to launch a manhunt. The impact trapped several passengers inside the bus, requiring immediate rescue efforts. Teams from the Samruddhi Expressway Fardapur unit, Mehkar police, and a local social worker named Santosh Malose assisted in the rescue.
