Metro Phase-II Completes First Track Crossover Near Lekha Nagar Nagpur Metro Phase-II has successfully completed its first track crossover near Lekha Nagar station on Reach 2A, marking a significant milestone in the project’s progress toward operational readiness. The crossover, which connects two parallel Metro tracks, enables trains to switch lines as needed, enhancing the system’s flexibility. The structure was recently cast on the Kamptee stretch, which runs from Automotive Square toward Kanhan. This critical component functions as a track-changing junction, allowing seamless transitions between the two lines. The connecting curve features a radius of 300 meters, ensuring a gradual and safe movement of trains between the parallel tracks. Officials emphasized that the construction of crossovers is one of the most precision-intensive aspects of track work. Even minor deviations in geometry or alignment could compromise the safety and efficiency of train operations. To address this, the work was carried out during nighttime hours as part of a planned schedule, with coordinated efforts from MahaMetro, its General Consultant, and the track contractor. The project team ensured meticulous attention to detail to meet the high standards required for such a critical infrastructure element. MahaMetro highlighted that 40 turnouts were installed on the elevated main lines under Nagpur Metro Phase-I. These turnouts, which form the branching portions of the railway track system, play a vital role in enabling directional changes. For Phase-II, the project will also incorporate 40 turnouts across its elevated main-line sections. Together, two turnouts create a crossover, allowing trains to switch between running lines.#kamptee #mahaMetro #nagpur_metro_phase_ii #lekha_nagar #automotive_square
