The operation unfolded in the early hours of Thursday when officers noticed a man carrying the scale near Kabir Nagar Chowk, prompting them to detain him. The individual, identified as 25-year-old Tulshiram Thakur, a resident of Samta Nagar under Jaripatka police station limits, was interrogated and confessed that the scale was used to measure methamphetamine (MD) powder. Thakur led authorities to a stash, resulting in the seizure of 121 grams of the drug, valued at over Rs6 lakh. The operation was part of Commissioner of Police Ravinder Singal’s ongoing anti-narcotics drive, “Operation Thunder.” During the investigation, Thakur revealed that he had sourced the drugs from Gaurav Nandagavali, also a resident of Samta Nagar, for distribution in the city. A follow-up raid the same night led to Nandagavali’s arrest. Police sources noted that Thakur was not a known figure in the narcotics trade but was apprehended due to the suspicious nature of his movements. Beyond the drug seizure, officers recovered additional items, including a motorcycle (MH-49-BN-7750) worth Rs50,000, a mobile phone valued at Rs15,000, Rs3,700 in cash, and zip-lock plastic packets.
