The police team, returning from a duty assignment, was traveling on the expressway near kilometer 171 when the accident happened. The collision caused the police jeep to crash into the divider, but all officers involved were unharmed. The suspects, identified as Sandip Jayswal from Maharajganj and Saroj Pant from Nepal’s Palpa district, were apprehended after a search of their vehicle revealed 10 gold ingots. The total weight of the gold was approximately 10 kilograms 26 grams, with an estimated market value of over 16.18 crores. The police handed over the suspects, the vehicle, and the gold to customs authorities for further investigation. According to police sources, the suspects’ activities raised suspicion, prompting a search of their car. The gold was found during the inspection, and the case has now been transferred to the customs and intelligence agencies. Officials revealed that the suspects were linked to a larger smuggling network involving the transportation of gold from Nepal to Delhi. A recent report indicated that three gold ingots had been moved from Nepal to Delhi three days prior to the incident. The customs authorities are now focusing on tracing the smuggling route, the network involved, and the individual who received the gold in Delhi.
