The monsoon system is projected to weaken by Thursday, leading to lighter rain and reduced wind speeds. The IMD has also highlighted the potential for lightning and gusts of wind reaching 40-50 kilometers per hour during the next few days. In Bhopal, the maximum temperature on Monday was recorded at 33.4°C, slightly higher than the previous day. However, the region has seen a cooling effect due to continuous rainfall, with a drop in temperatures observed in the evenings. The department has warned that the rain will persist until July 8, with central, eastern, and south-eastern districts facing the highest risk of heavy precipitation. The prolonged rainfall has caused rivers and streams in the state to overflow, leading to localized flooding. In Ujjain, the Shipra River’s water level rose significantly, submerging parts of the Ram Gate temple. The situation has also affected neighboring Chhattisgarh, where the IMD reported heavy rainfall in several areas over the past 24 hours.
