According to the survey, while public transport infrastructure in Nagpur continues to expand, the ease of accessing transit hubs remains a major concern for many commuters. The data shows that 33.2% of Metro users reach stations within 10 minutes, while nearly 28.6%—approximately one in three commuters—take between 15 and 30 minutes to arrive at a station. Applied to Nagpur Metro’s average daily ridership of around 100,000 passengers, this translates to nearly 30,000 commuters spending up to half an hour solely accessing a Metro station. An additional 1.8% of users take over 30 minutes to reach a station before boarding a train. A similar pattern is observed among bus commuters, with 34.7% of passengers spending up to 30 minutes to reach bus terminals. Another 21% require between 30 minutes and an hour, while nearly 12% spend over an hour accessing a terminal before starting their journey. These findings emphasize the broader challenges associated with reaching public transport hubs, which can deter ridership and impact the effectiveness of expanding transit networks. Despite Delays, Lok Vihar Still On Track To Be 1st Station Of Nagpur Metro Ph2 Nagpur: The Lok Vihar Metro station on the Kamptee Road corridor is progressing toward becoming the first operational station of Nagpur Metro's Phase 2, with September 2025 targeted as the commissioning deadline. Despite prolonged delays caused by the monsoon season last year, which disrupted construction for several months, the station’s core civil and structural work was completed in February. A senior MahaMetro official confirmed that the focus is now on the final stages, including interior design, painting, system installation, and finishing touches. The official noted that work is accelerating to meet the revised schedule. Sources highlighted that shortages of sand in October and November 2024 further slowed progress, leading to partial halts at multiple sites. To mitigate this, both natural and crushed sand are now being utilized. The Kamptee corridor (Reach 2), stretching from Automotive Square to Kanhan, is currently under construction at 11 of its 12 stations. Foundation and superstructure work is advancing at multiple sites, with Lok Vihar being developed as a "model station." MahaMetro reported that work on the Kamptee, Wardha, Hingna, and Bhandara corridors under Phase 2 is progressing rapidly. On the Kamptee corridor alone, 333 out of 487 piers (over 68%) have been erected, and 159 of 488 girder spans (around 35%) are complete. Steel bridges and balanced cantilever structures are also advancing. Of the 32 stations under Phase 2, construction is underway at over 26. On Reach 3 (Lokmanya Nagar to Hingna), Hingna Mount View is expected to be the lead station, while Transport Nagar is likely to take that role on Reach 4.
