Woman, Family Harassed Onboard Danapur-Secunderabad Express A woman and her family traveling on the Danapur-Secunderabad Express allegedly faced harassment after a dispute over seat allotment, turning their journey into a distressing experience. The incident occurred on the intervening night of July 3-4, following the train’s departure from Varanasi. As of now, no formal FIR has been registered in connection with the event. According to the complaint filed by the family, a group of passengers without valid tickets crowded the train’s coach, leading to a scuffle and subsequent physical harassment. The family alleged that the lights in the coach were turned off, creating a dark environment during which women were subjected to molestation. In response, the family immediately contacted the railway helpline and tagged the official X handle of the railway authorities for assistance. Senior Inspector of Government Railway Police (GRP), Gaurav Gawande, confirmed that the woman lodged a complaint with the railway’s 139 helpline. Railway Protection Force (RPF) personnel and ticket collectors were dispatched to the location in Varanasi to address the situation. Upon the train’s arrival in Nagpur on July 4, GRP officials met with the victims. Gawande stated that his team coordinated with the Varanasi counterpart, reviewing the details of the complaint and emailing it for further action. A fresh complaint was also registered in Nagpur and forwarded to Varanasi for follow-up. The incident highlights the challenges of maintaining safety and order on long-distance trains, particularly during peak travel periods.
